54th Annual Souderton Christmas Parade
Souderton Borough
1 December 2012
Ship 461 made its first public
appearance in the Souderton Borough on 1 December 2012 when the Ship
participated, along with our associated Scout Troop, in the Borough's 54th
Annual Christmas Parade. The Ship's crew members and officers marched with
the Scouts and adult leaders of Troop 461 along Souderton's Main and Broad
Streets from the Souderton Community Park near Reliance Road to the Old
Souderton High School at the corner of West Broad Street and School Lane.
The photo above left shows the
group as they are ready to set out on the parade route. The photo at above
right shows the Boy and Sea Scouts preparing for their respective parts in the
parade.
The photo below left shows Skipper Wile and Administrative Mate van der Kleut
waiting for the parade to get underway. The group photo at the right shows
all of the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts who participated in the parade along with
some of the adult leaders of the Ship and Troop.
One of our sail boats was used as a float and we put Santa in a stocking as our figurehead. Some of the smaller Boy Scouts and siblings rode in the sail boat during the parade, waving at the crowd.
